For several weeks, Creative Time exhibited the last work of Cuban artist Felix Gonzalez-Torres, known as Untitled, 1995. Displayed on twenty-four billboards throughout four boroughs in New York City, Gonzalez-Torres’s hauntingly poetic final work featured the image of a bird in flight against an empty grey sky. The billboards ran concurrently with an exhibition at the Andrea Rosen Gallery.

In annual observance of Day With(out) Art, Creative Time presented The Banner Project 2000, a new series of downloadable web banners from a global network of designers and artists. The banners were available to the public for posting on personal websites and included a link to the Creative Time Web Action site, ensuring that the various artists’ messages concerning HIV/AIDS could be displayed by anyone and effectively receive widespread attention.

Creative Time and D-Film also presented CineVirus: Make A Scene, a digital community space that enabled visitors to make visible their personal responses to the HIV/AIDS epidemic. The online project encouraged people to upload their own digital videos depicting or discussing what AIDS represented to them personally. As the common parlance of AIDS/HIV has become statistics and faceless numbers, CineVirus offered an opportunity to illuminate and document singular personal experiences.
