Is it supposed to blow bubbles? if so, that part is not working. the other part works.
the bubbles worked for me ! then encountered a cute old couple who told us to goto a gallery opening next door to eat free cheese. lmao !
Bubbles were not working when I stopped by there this week. But at the end of the alley is the Proteus Gowanus. They invited me in for a tour of their gallery.
Bubble machine was working but no bubbles when I visited earlier today.
Bubble machine was working but no bubbles when I visited on 6/26.
Cabinet Magazine in Brooklyn. This was an interesting box to open since it’s empty inside. We were not allow to put anything inside the box as per request posted on the door of the box. When the box is opened, music plays. Kind of weird and unique. Some people who had already visited this site said that bubbles were suppose to come out. I guess it’s broken cause we didn’t see any bubbles. Although there was a sign on the inside of the box that says to “look up”… not sure what its referring to cause there is nothing to look up at. lol…
cute with bubbles and music!
bubbles not working today & someone left a notebook in the box. loved the music tho!
Bubbles and music – excellent idea! Thank you very much for great mood you gave me.
I made 2 videos:

p.s. I love Cabinet magazine’s cat. It is cute.
I followed the cat to the next door http://observatoryroom.org and found something interesting for me.
Afterwards, it’s cool to cross over the Gowanus Canal on Union St bridge and there’s also a cute little wine bar ‘Black Mountain’ 2 block down at Union and Hoyt.
My younger daughter and I went 2 weeks ago and she had a BLAST dancing around the alley to the music and chasing the bubbles… it was wonderful!
I went to this site yesterday and it didn’t play any music and blow any bubbles. Is something broken???
bubbles didn’t blow when I went.
Went today and no music or bubbles… huge disappointment.
just saw the note on this page that says “This site may not be fully functional on Sundays.” Why in the world is that not in the info booklet?????
No bubbles but delightful none the less, check out Oaxaca Tacos nearby, sooo yummy!!!

The installation worked for me today. It was a lot of fun.
We were there toaday and the bubbles were dancing to the music, literally. We had a blast.
Hubby and son went yesterday. Box had note inside with phone number, saying call for “full experience.” So they did, and a man appeared, bearing a bubble wand and a GIANT flask of bubble mix. Small boy had great time blowing bubbles in the alley, and even spotted the broken bubble-maker way atop the box corner. VERY unique lock-spot; they loved it.
i went there yesterday and at first nothing happened. i was so confused to why i was opening a box with music. then someone ran out and told me there was a surprise and runs out the alley. she comes back with her lunch (hehe)and runs back into the warehouse. I wait a minute and she comes back with bubbles and apologize that it wasn’t working. it was a nice surprise =)
does anyone know the name of the song that was playing? bubbles and music worked for me and it was so sweet.
@Svetlana, the info booklet doesn’t even provide Sunday hours, so I’m not sure why you thought you’d be able to go there on a Sunday.
I stopped by on a weekday evening and it was available a little later than the booklet said. I loved this site – everything was working perfectly when I visited.
box was empty
Just a note that said they hoped it would be back tomorrow. But it was still “interesting”. Key landmark is the South Brooklyn Casket Company so I guess you could say I saw a lot of empty boxes…
Went by in Aug. The company came out sang and blew bubbles for us and another couple. My nephew loved it. They were hilarious. The machine was broken but the company didn’t give up, that’s so classy-so New York-so Brooklyn
