    Born 1970 in Runcorn, England.
Lives and works in Berlin, Germany.

Phil Collins enlists the public to create documented social situations that explore the ambivalent relationship between the camera and its subject, as well as the ethics of contemporary media. Collins frequently situates his projects in areas experiencing sociopolitical turmoil, creating vulnerable, poignant, and often challenging portraits of a region through its inhabitants. Collins’ projects range from they shoot horses (2004), an eight-hour teenage dance marathon in the West Bank, to Baghdad Screen Tests (2002), a pre-invasion series of Warholesque screen tests of Iraqi citizens for a non-existent Hollywood film. Collins was nominated for the Turner Prize in 2006.
