Creative Time

Creative Time, New York City’s veteran and vanguard public arts presenter, seeks two temporary Site Attendants for New Red Order’s (NRO) The World’s UnFair. The Site Attendants will assist in the daily set-up, operation, and breakdown of the large-scale outdoor multi-work installation including a multi-channel video and audio installation located at 24-11 Jackson Ave, Long Island City, Queens NY 11101.

The candidate must be a dedicated and enthusiastic steward of art in the public realm, and serve as a dynamic representative for Creative Time. The installation is outdoors, so candidates must be comfortable working outside and be comfortable adapting to changes in weather and temperature.

The candidate will be expected to engage with the public, sharing information about Creative Time, the artists, and background information about the project and its core themes. Strong candidates are self-starters who can conduct their work independently with a thorough eye for detail. They will bring a friendly and passionate demeanor and be interested in promoting the intersection of art and issues surrounding rematriation and giving back land.

The Site Attendant reports to the Site Manager and Creative Time’s Project Manager (PM). Complete training is provided before the project begins, and the selected Site Attendants will receive key documents such as a Health and Safety Plan, key contacts, a schedule, and a staffing manual which will include scripts for assistance in engaging with the public.

The project will run from September 14, 2023 to October 15, 2023. The candidate should be available to work 20 hours/week during that time period from Thursdays through Sunday from 11:00am – 9:00pm, with the potential for additional days to be added. During three public program days, the shift hours will extend to 11:00pm. This is a paid temporary position with a compensation of $20/hour.
