Volunteer

Creative Time worked with a team of dedicated and energetic volunteers to help with Duke Riley’s large-scale public art installation Fly By Night, which took place at the Brooklyn Navy Yard in the spring of 2016. A once-in-a-lifetime project and a historic moment for New York City, the exhibition was free and open to the public on Fridays, Saturdays and Sundays at dusk from May 7th through June 19th. Volunteer responsibilities ranged from guiding attendees through the project site to supporting with behind-the-scenes logistics.

Volunteer Responsibilities

• Engage with the public and share information about the project, artist, organization and site
• Ensure safety of the audience and provide way-finding services
• Facilitate the audience flow through the waiver and ticketing process
• Assist with light set-up and break-down of the exhibition space

Volunteer Benefits

• An insider’s view of a unique exhibition and the opportunity to learn about a major public artwork
• Experience working with the Creative Time staff
• Special access to the Brooklyn Navy Yard, including a historical education tour
• A small gift as a token of our appreciation for your time and energy

Volunteer Shifts

The performances took place on Fridays, Saturdays, and Sundays at dusk between May 7th and June 19th. Volunteer shifts were 4 hours, from 6pm-10pm. We asked all volunteers to commit to at least four shifts.

*Check-in and check-out times may vary throughout the run of show*
