Duke Riley is a Brooklyn artist whose work spans drawing, printmaking, mosaic, sculpture, tattooing, performative interventions, video and multimedia installations. Riley traveled the country by freight train and filmed in the sewers of Cleveland for “An Invitation to Lubberland” (2010). He raced animals on boats through canals on the outskirts of Shanghai for “The Rematch” (2012) and held a naval battle in Queens, New York, with boats built from reeds and found objects for “Those About to Die Salute You” (2009). His work, often focusing on the borders of urban spaces, is exhibited around the world and is part of the Brooklyn Museum’s permanent collection.
