Hong Sar

Hong Sar was born in Karen State in eastern Myanmar to Mon parents in 1983. He grew up amid armed conflict before moving to the Thai-Myanmar border in 1999 to continue his studies. From 2003–2006, Hong Sar worked as a photojournalist for the Independent Mon News Agency, based in Thailand. Later, from 2010–2012, he worked as a filmmaker and photographer for the Human Rights Education Institute of Burma. During this time, Myanmar held national elections, and soon after Hong Sar moved back to Myanmar to begin working as a photo editor with the Mizzima News Agency, where he continues to work today.
