Zack Embree is a Vancouver-based filmmaker and photographer with a passion for generative storytelling. He has documented grassroots political events and initiatives around the world, including the RIO+20 Haiti Earth Summit, the First Nations Healing Walk actions at the Alberta Tar Sands, anti-fracking resistance in Northwest British Columbia and the People’s Climate March in New York. In 2014, Embree created Directly Affected, a story about the people and places impacted by the Kinder Morgan Trans Mountain pipeline expansion. Currently, he is developing Directly Affected/Where We Live, a screening project that will trace proposed pipeline routes across Canada to connect activist communities and document the ways in which people are standing up for democracy, a resilient economy and a liveable future.
