Artist collective Learning Site harnesses the creative power of communities to create site- specific projects which examine local resources and economies while opening lines of dialogue to discuss social issues.

Learning Site

Learning Site is an artist collective that produces site-specific projects informed by the local skills, resources, and knowledge of the host communities. The collective engages in a critical examination of material resources and economies, focusing on issues such as labor rights, property rights, and the production and distribution of knowledge. For Audible Dwelling (2009), Learning Site constructed a portable loudspeaker/dwelling structure that recorded and amplified sounds and public speeches from a parking lot in Columbus, Ohio. The structure alluded to the dialogues surrounding the economics of property, democratic ideals of free speech, and the logistics of space. The group has produced projects in countries around the world, including India, Denmark, Singapore, Mexico, and Japan.

Founded 2004. Based in Copenhagen, Denmark.
