Whether it be in abandoned offices, church aisles, shady backstreets, or embassy villas, Poste Restante’s performances are sure to occur in unexpected places. The Swedish company creates performances where audiences are placed at the heart of an ongoing dilemma. Rather than finding solutions to these conflicts, their work legitimizes all issues and acts as a catalyst for deep reflection on difficult questions and scenarios. Poste Restante consist of Swedish artists Erik Berg, Linn Hilda Lamberg, and Stefan Åkesson. Their current project Closing Time is a telephone helpline for anyone who has an emotional relationship to his or her city. Guided by an operator through changes in the cityscape, each visitor is offered an opportunity to reflect upon how their life choices are manifested in the city and, ultimately, a memorial ceremony where opera singers give voice to honor what has been lost.
