Shaun Gladwell

Shaun Gladwell creates video and photographic works that examine the limits of human physicality and endurance through hyperreal depictions of extreme sports, urban subcultures, and, most recently, the war in Afghanistan. Gladwell spent October 2009 embedded with Australian soldiers in the Oruzgan province as an official war artist, culminating in the exhibition Double Field: Shaun Gladwell – Afghanistan at the Australian War Memorial. Gladwell is represented by the Anna Schwartz Gallery in Sydney and Melbourne, and exhibited at the 53rd Venice Biennial and the 2nd Yokohama Triennial.
