Sofía Hernández Chong Cuy

Sofía Hernández Chong Cuy is the Director of the Museo de Tamayo Arte Contemporáneo in Mexico City and an independent curator of contemporary art. Working closely with contemporary artists, much of her curatorial work has consisted in conceptualizing meeting points—in the form of exhibitions, events, or printed matter—that allow audiences to experience art in unconventional ways. In the past decade, Hernández Chong Cuy has worked at Art in General, Americas Society, and the Center for Curatorial Studies at Bard College, all in New York. She has curated exhibitions for Kadist Art Foundation in Paris, Museo de Arte Latinoamericano de Buenos Aires, and the Contemporary Art Center in Vilnius. While in residence at the Kadist Art Foundation, she curated Archaeology of Longing (Archéologie de la Chine) (2008), an intimate and political exhibition of artworks, artifacts, and common objects.
