BPDT is a community-based arts group comprised of children, youth and adults from the neighborhood of Puerta de Tierra in San Juan, Puerto Rico. In an effort to preserve their history and their people, the organization is focused on caring for their neighborhood and the reactivation of abandoned areas. Formed in 2015 under the slogan “AQUÍ VIVE GENTE,” BPDT is organized horizontally and collectively, operating under four key concepts: self-management, awareness, strategic planning and collective decision-making. BPDT was recognized by the 46th Fiestas of San Sebastían Street with the Merit and Dedication Award for their community action initiatives and commitment to national culture.
