The Cuban born Afro-Cuban hip-hop group Krudas Cubensi—comprised of Odaymara Cuesta and Olivia Prendes—uses their music and poetry to focus on LGBTQIA discourse on black women. They fight against oppression and fight for justice, balance, rights, and for the celebration of life. They challenge the patriarchal Latin American establishment, instead advocating for solidarity, recognition, and power. With the desire to share their message with activists outside of Cuba more freely and to fight for social justice around the world, Krudas Cubensi immigrated to the United States in 2006 and is currently located in Austin, Texas. Since 2006 they have toured the U.S., Mexico, Colombia, Guatemala, and other Latin American countries.
