This session is an exchange between Marie Vickles, Knight Associate Director of Education at Pérez Art Museum and curator at The Little Haiti Cultural Complex, and cultural practitioner and interdisciplinary artist william cordova. The title of their presentation is a quote from artist and Project Row Houses founder Rick Lowe. Like Lowe, both Vickles and corodva are interested in utilizing the visual arts to engage, develop and preserve their respective communities through constructive strategies that deter gentrification. They will delve into the practical reality of Inclusion, Community Building and Cultural Representation in artistic, curatorial and museum educational practices.
