Mariam Ghani is an artist, writer, filmmaker, and teacher with a research based and collaborative practice. She works with artist Chitra Ganesh compiling an experimental archive of post-9/11 renditions, redactions, detentions, and deportations. Ghani also collaborates with Erin Kelly and Qasim Naqvi on Performed Places, which explores urban reconstructions and national imaginaries. She works closely with the Gulf Labor Working Group and co-wrote the book Afghanistan: A Lexicon for documenta’s 100 Notes, 100 Thoughts series. Her recent texts have been published by Foreign Policy, Ibraaz, Manifesta Journal, the NYRBlog, Triple Canopy, and Creative Time Reports. Her work has been exhibited at the Rotterdam and CPH:DOX film festivals, dOCUMENTA (13), MoMA, the CCCB, and the Sharjah Biennial 10. Ghani is currently the Freund Teaching Fellow at Washington University in St. Louis.
