Ian MacKaye

Ian MacKaye is a co-founder and co-owner of Dischord Records, an independent label that is entering its 36th year of operation. The label was formed to document a specific community of musicians and bands in the budding Washington, DC underground punk scene of the early 1980s. MacKaye has been a member of a number of DC punk bands, most notably The Teen Idles, Minor Threat, Embrace, Fugazi, and The Evens. MacKaye is currently working on a new band as well as a multi-year archival project.
