VISUALIZING LIBERATION FOR CREATION

Led by Tiffany Leoni Jones, Daisy Pagan, Francisca Peral, Larissa Mendoza, Sadiyah Holloway, Sydney “G” Moran, Javani Fredricks, Lukas Billups, Rachel Sarmiento

SWISS INSTITUTE, 38 ST. MARKS PL, NEW YORK, 2ND FLOOR LIBRARY
Note: No advance registration required. Sessions will be filled on a first-come, first-served basis.

This student-led and student-designed session will ask participants to visualize liberation. What does liberation look like? How do community-based art and activism work towards liberating society from oppression? Students will share their visions by presenting their findings and final projects from a 9-week class, led by Tiffany Jones at City-As School. Part of their studies included the formation of the inaugural Summit Study Group, in which Creative Time and Printed Matter teamed up to engage students in Summit thematics.

Tiffany Jones is the New Museum Educator in Residence for Art & Social Justice and a public school Art Educator. Teaching and learning is her ultimate art practice. Currently, she is working on a project dedicated to youth lost to gun violence and the teachers who loved them.
