Summit X Dinner Session

7:30PM – 9:30PM

COMER POLLO Y TOMAR CAFÉ

Hosted by Alex Valls, Juliana Steiner, Julianna Vezzetti, Josefina Muñoz

DEVOCIÓN, 25 E 20TH ST, NEW YORK, NY

Note: The dinner will be a self-serve buffet and attendees will be rotating between stations that include glove-making and dining. The venue is ADA accessible.

Alex Valls, Juliana Steiner, Julianna Vezzetti are Good to Know and will be presenting the work of Josefina Muñoz’s participatory chicken dinner, “Comer Pollo y Tomar Café.” In many cultural contexts — including Muñoz’ hometown of Bogotá, Colombia — eating chicken with one’s bare hands is considered a lowbrow act. As a remedy for chicken-to-skin contact, the use of plastic gloves is a widely popularized act. Dinner guests will create their own luxury brand plastic gloves for eating chicken under the artists’ guidance and proceed to eat with their hands in “style.”

Your hosts will be serving an array of chicken options, seasonal vegetables, dessert by Reynard Restaurant, and coffee, beer, and wine by Devocíon.

Josefina Muñoz is an artist from Bogatá, Colombia whose work focuses on social sustainability and justice.

Alex Valls is a multidisciplinary artist working between Miami and New York.

Juliana Steiners an independent curator, writer, and researcher who lives and works in between Bogotá and Miami.

Julianna Vezzetti is a New York-based artist liaison, consultant, and curator.
