American Anatomy by

Janet Henry

"American Anatomy" is a series of lariats that portray characters artist Janet Henry has invented or thought worthy of preserving. She starts with images of toys, dolls and tchotchkes, which sews into clear vinyl and stuff with shredded materials. Stories often accompany these sculptures. According to Ms. Henry, "In addition to those glaring idiosyncrasies that make some of us into outsized characters, there are small everyday things that thread through our lives and connect us all. If you see yourself in any of my lariats, it's because we have a lot in common from just tyring to live our lives."

Artists' Biography

The artistx is a native New Yorker of British West Indian descent and has truckloads of relatives and a meager culinary traditon to prove it.
