ROGERS MARVEL ARCHITECTS
World Trade Centers Rogers Marvel Architects was founded in 1992 by principals Rob Rogers and Jonathan Marvel. Each partner brings a strong hand and an intense analytical approach to making Architecture and has an extensive background designing significant cultural projects around the world. The poster design team is composed of architect Chad Smith, and senior designer Eugene Colberg.

Idea for poster:
WTC, like the "yellow giants" Tafuri wrote of, were of another scale, and seemed only to speak to each other and the sky. They alternated between being products of large-scale infrastructure engineering and some kind of unusual natural formation, delivered to lower Manhattan. They seemed above the problems of earthly architecture, because they were formed of a special confluence of architectural energy: optimistic, simple, spirited, and ultimately built. They were simultaneously reviled and admired for these qualities throughout their lives.

Our poster is composed of vertical lines of different scales, overlapping, so that when they are repeated on different sized walls, they begin to form new patterns, new scales of objects. They can be stacked into tall compositions, or placed on large billboard-sized walls and expand in both directions. By creating these new fields of pure scale, we continue the towers' original qualities. This is our memorial to WTC, and more importantly, our anticipation of that kind of architecture again: an infinite spread of finite lines, an ever-changing placement of naturally simple elements, spread over the city.
