Donny George Youhkanna is the former Director of the National Museum in Baghdad. He received his PhD in Archeology from the University in Baghdad in 1995 and participated in many excavations in Iraq since 1976. After his departure from Iraq in 2006, he became a visiting professor at the Department of Asian and Asian American Studies at SUNY Stony Brook. He wrote the foreword to The Looting of the Iraq Museum, Baghdad: The Lost Legacy of Ancient Mesopotamia (2004) and has participated in many seminars in the U.S. and Europe on the recovery of Iraqi antiquities.
