Jarvis Cocker is a musician famous for fronting the band Pulp from 1978 to 2002. After Pulp, Cocker consoled himself with semi-retirement, moving to Paris, making occasional media appearances to talk about Outsider Art, Scott Walker or other personal crusades. The appearance of his debut solo album, Jarvis, at the end of 2006 was greeted with an open-armed goodwill it is hard to imagine being reserved for many other singers. His follow-up album, Further Complications, produced with Steve Albini in Chicago, was released on Rough Trade in May 2009. Beyond music, Cocker has worked as a journalist and as guest poetry editor for The Mays Anthology. His book of lyrics, Mother, Brother, Lover, was published by Faber & Faber in 2011. The Sony Award-winning radio show "Jarvis Cocker's Sunday Service" has aired weekly on BBC 6Music since 2010 and he is currently working on a third season of "Wireless Nights" —"a nocturnal investigation of the human condition"—for BBC Radio 4.
