Nir Evron

Nir Evron is an Israeli video artist and photographer. He graduated from Bezalel Academy of Arts and Design in Jerusalem (2001) and completed a MFA degree at the Slade School of Fine Art in London (2005). In recent years his work has focused on reexamining historical events, visions and representations of the past through video and film. Evron researches various methods and practices of historical documentation and rebuilds them using films, documents, sounds, photographs and texts. Evron has exhibited widely in Israel and abroad. In September 2011, he had a solo show at the Tel Aviv Center for Contemporary Art, and his work has recently been shown in the 6th Berlin Biennale, in the exhibition “Overview - Israeli Video 2000-2010” at Haifa Museum of Art, and in “Evet” at Hamidrasha Gallery, Tel Aviv. Evron received the 2007 Young Artist Award from Israel's Ministry of Culture, and was awarded the Samuel Givon Prize by the Tel Aviv Museum and Givon Gallery in 2008. His works can be found in collections such as the Israel Museum Collection and the Zabludowicz Collection, London.
