Nora York is a musician, singer, conceptual artist and educator who defines herself outside of the musical category. She has released four deeply emotional and socially engaged albums and performed at the Whitney Biennial in 2006. York has been commissioned by the Public Theater in New York City and the Robert Rauschenberg Foundation and has earned two composer awards from the New York State Council for the Arts. With her long time collaborator and co-composer Jamie Lawrence, she also writes for television and film. Since 1997, York has taught at the Tisch School of the Arts at New York University.



Jamie Lawrence is an Emmy-award winning composer and arranger. He has also scored feature films and numerous documentary films. Lawrence has written all the original music for the Tony Award broadcasts for the past eleven years as well as created many arrangements for the award ceremonies. He frequently collaborates with Nora York and also composes for dance and theater. As an arranger, he has written for numerous musical luminaries including Jessye Norman, Quincy Jones, Smokey Robinson and Herbie Hancock.
