Stephen F. Eisenman is Professor of Art History at Northwestern University. He is the author of eight books and exhibition catalogues, including The Ecology of Impressionism (2011), The Abu Ghraib Effect (2007) and Gauguin's Skirt (1997). His book The Cry of Nature: Art and the Making of Animal Rights is forthcoming from Reaktion Books. Beginning in 2008, Eisenman worked with Laurie Jo Reynolds and Tamms Year Ten to end torture at Tamms supermax prison. His article on Tamms, "The Resistible Rise and Predictable Fall of the American Supermax," was published in Monthly Review in 2009.
