Ayreen Anastas and Rene Gabri have worked together since 1999, often through their organization 16beaver. Their practices are informed by issues of critical inquiry and the everyday, recently exploring topics such as the political and cultural circumstances of revolutions. They utilize film, audio recordings, text, and video, among other media. Recent projects include “Camp Campaign,” where they traveled across the US from 2005 through 2007 to current and former relief, refugee, detention, boot and military camps to engage people in conversation.

Both live and work in New York.
