Favianna Rodriguez

Favianna Rodriguez is an interdisciplinary artist, cultural organizer, and political activist based in Oakland, California. In 2013, Rodriguez co- founded CultureStrike, a network of cultural workers that call for migrant rights by creating positive narratives around migration. Recently, she created a new documentary series titled Migration Is Beautiful, which addresses the immigration debate in the United States and redefines what it means to be an immigrant in America. Known for her vibrant prints and multicolored posters, Rodriguez uses both personal artwork and collaborative projects to tackle themes like migration, economic injustice, and patriarchy. Rodriguez lectures globally on the power of art, cultural organizing, and technology to inspire social change, and leads art workshops at schools across the U.S. Rodriguez has fought for gender equality, examined the impact of environmental destruction, and been an advocate for undocumented immigrants in the U.S.
