InCUBATE

InCUBATE is a Chicago-based research institute and artist residency program dedicated to creating alternative approaches to current infrastructures for arts administration and funding. InCUBATE focuses on organizational strategies that provide direct support to critical, socially engaged art and culture beyond traditional for-profit or non-profit structures. The core organizational principle is to treat art administration as a creative practice. The work of InCUBATE has manifested in a series of traveling exhibitions called Other Options, a residency program, a series of lectures, and a monthly community meal and micro-grant program called Sunday Soup. With attendance priced at ten dollars per person, the revenue generated by Sunday Soup is granted to support the creative project decided upon by the popular vote of the diners.
