Finding a Line: Community-Based Skatepark and Art Project

Finding a Line is an ongoing community-sourced public art project that combines skating, music, and media as a socially-engaged platform for a variety of actions and research. Premiering last year at the Kennedy Center, Finding A Line has recently migrated to the Union Market area of DC in collaboration with Gallaudet University, the world’s only liberal arts college for deaf and hard of hearing students. American Sign Language interpreters will be present for the duration of this day-long session on October 16th.

Open from 12:00 to 5:00 pm (See CULTURERUNNERS Mobile Excursion and Maen Hammad’s Session for associated activities and shuttle information).

Ben Ashworth’s work exists at the nexus of art, skateboarding, and community, thereby blurring the line between activism and art while engaging surrounding communities. Producer of Finding A Line, he is also a founding member of underground skatepark and creative space DC FightClub, a core member of DC-based Workingman Collective, and Sculpture Studio Manager at George Mason University.
