Created by visual artist Luis Manuel Otero and Art Historian Yanelis Núñez Leyva in 2016, the Museum of Dissidence in Cuba exists as a website that seeks to redefine what is means to be dissident through the documentation of those who have stood in opposition to the Cuban government throughout history. The project connotes that the tight grasp that the ruling class of our time holds will eventually be released by the replacement of opposition groups and political unrest. The project approaches the history of Cuba as a country challenged and affected by dissident figures, ultimately advocating for political diversity.
