Summit X Dinner Session

7:30PM – 9:30PM

BREADBREAKING

Hosted by Elene Damenia, Levan Mindiashvili

MANSION, 9 W 8TH ST, NEW YORK, NY

Note: This is a seated dinner. The venue is not wheelchair accessible. There is a one-floor walk-up to gain entry to the space. There will be no meat or seafood served, all dishes are vegan and vegetarian options. Gluten free options will be available as well. Additional dietary requirements can be accommodated if communicated by Monday, November 11.

Historically, the breaking of bread has been used to bring together people who previously had been disconnected. As artists and natives of Georgia—a place known for a long tradition of hospitality and inviting strangers, even enemies, to share a meal—there is an urgency to share the act of breaking bread, in light of the current times of polarization and multiple “truths.”

Your hosts will be serving a variety of breads to be broken and shared. Breads will include middle eastern varieties, as well as gluten-free options. The dishes are shareable and will offer a range of colorful, plant-based and vegetarian dips and mezze, accompanied by fresh-cut vegetables, leaves, with a seasonal fruit compote to finish.

Elene Damenia is Tbilisi-born, multidisciplinary artist living in New York who organizes feast-like gatherings with colorful table presentations, to both honor and deconstruct ideas of tradition.

Levan Mindiashvili is a Georgia-born, Brooklyn-based visual artist, curator, and writer whose multidisciplinary practice address the issues of cultural branding and its distribution in globalized art-world.
