Movie Portraits by Neil Winokur

Neil Winokur's portraits, installed in the vitrines of two theaters, are a small selection of the many people that bared their faces in front of the artist's camera on 42nd Street. The subjects, which represent the overwhelming diversity of people living in and visiting New York City, may have been enticed by the idea of stardom: having their portraits displayed in the poster vitrines like stage and screen stars.
