Live Auction

Creative Time’s signature live auction, hosted by rising star Alexander Gilkes from Phillips de Pury & Co, offers bidders the opportunity to be not just the owner of an artwork but an active participant in it’s creation. This year’s partner artists are Roe Ethridge, Eric Fischl, Kalup Linzy, Craig McDean, Tony Oursler, and Kenny Scharf.

For more information please contact Liz Gwinn: lizg@creativetime.org / 212 206 6674 x204

“It’s the same image whether it’s illustrating a text or has a caption, on the walls or on a bus stop. I like the fact that photography is ubiquitous and polymorphic, that it can be for the specialist or the dilettante or sometimes both at the same time.” -- Roe Ethridge, rising star and 2008 Whitney Biennial favorite, will create a custom portrait of the winner. Value $14,000

Eric Fischl will create a photo-collage digitally printed portrait for the highest bidder. (New York Magazine just named him one of the “top artists to bid on this spring”!) Printed on Premium Presentation Paper in Matte finish, the size will be 13" x 19". The sitter will have one year to schedule their portrait either in the East End of Long Island or in New York City. Value: $4,500

The winning bidder will be featured in an on-screen role in an upcoming film project by performance artist Kalup Linzy. The Guggenheim fellow was recently included in the critically lauded 30 Americans show at the The Rubell Family Collection in Miami this past winter and has been celebrated for both his live and onscreen performances. The new project will take place in the coming twelve months in New York City. Value $5,000

Renowned fashion photographer Craig McDean will bring his trademark conceptual portraiture and impeccable style to your custom portrait. Value $15,000

Multimedia artist Tony Oursler has pioneered new media art since the 1970’s and is known for his works combining moving images and sculpture. He exhibited his dramatic and aggressive works extensively in the U.S., Europe, and Japan. Oursler will create a new signature video eye portrait of the highest bidder’s inset in an acrylic-on-aluminum panel. Value $50,000.

Kenny Scharf's portrait of you will be 30x22", oil on canvas. The sitter will have one year to schedule their portrait in New York City. Value $40,000.
