About the Project

B. Holden to Diderot, an architectural installation by Barry Holden, was a series of pavilions, which pertained to inventions listed in Denis Diderot’s Encyclopédie.

Published in the 18th century, Diderot’s Encyclopédie was the first comprehensive encyclopedia, featuring text and self-explanatory drawings, so as to describe all human knowledge. Its publication, however, was suppressed and censored throughout Diderot’s lifetime.
