GRAPHIC DESIGNER (On-site)

 

 
Creative Time, New York City’s veteran and vanguard public arts presenter, seeks a full-time Graphic Designer to continue a legacy of great design with identities for public art projects, print and web collateral, and more. The ideal candidate will be someone who is innovative, flexible, and has a highly developed aesthetic sensibility that aligns with Creative Time’s unique voice.
 
The Graphic Designer will be skilled in conceptualizing, presenting, and executing visual identities for art exhibitions, the Creative Time Summit, special events, and other programs. The Graphic Designer should be familiar with Creative Time’s brand identity and have the ability to create digital and print collateral with tight turnarounds. The Designer should have proven knowledge of Adobe Creative Suite with emphasis on InDesign, Illustrator, and Photoshop; HTML/CSS, email templates, responsive layouts; strong organizational skills and file management protocol; and the ability to manage several projects at once. The position offers creative freedom and the opportunity to guide project designs from conception to production.
 
Primary responsibilities:
 
—Carry out Creative Time’s brand identity through print and digital collateral, including decks, presentations, project assets, invitations and mailers, and internal documents
—Design comprehensive identity systems for Creative Time’s art exhibitions, events, and initiatives, to be applied to websites, digital and print collateral, and physical items, often working closely with artists and curator
—Devise signage and wayfinding strategies for Creative Time’s exhibitions and work with local printers to produce and install
—Design assets for social media platforms, including Instagram and Facebook
—Design/layout assistance e-blasts and web templates
—Maintain website graphics and back-end operations
—Maintain vendor relationships and research competitive opportunities
 
Requirements:
 
—BA or BFA in Graphic Design or related field
—3-6 years professional experience
—A portfolio demonstrating a high level of creative ability, an eye for typography, diversity of style. Portfolio must show prior experience in print.
—Fluency in Adobe Creative Suite, with particular strengths in InDesign, Photoshop and Illustrator, Animator
—Advanced knowledge of pre-press processes for print and best-practices for email/website graphics
—Working knowledge of HTML/CSS and designing for HTML email templates, comfortable building out templates for MailChimp
—Strong branding skills and ability to follow brand standards/guidelines
—Knowledge of video production, Cinema 4D or Blender a plus, but not required.
—On-site work, as health and safety allow, at our downtown Manhattan office is required. This is not a fully remote position.
 
This is a full-time, non-exempt, permanent position with a salary of $60-70,000, depending on experience. The organization offers generous holiday and time-off benefits to all employees with medical benefits available upon start.

The Leonhardt Cassullo Video Fellowship is central to Creative Time’s communication and programming efforts, helping us document our over forty-year history, and allowing Creative Time’s ephemeral, public artworks to be experienced by audiences beyond those that can see in person.
 
The fellowship is a 12-month part-time position. Applications for the 2023 Video Fellow will open in October 2022.
