Trevor Paglen and Laura Kurgan in Conversation
April 18th, 2013
On Monday, April 22, at 6:30 PM, artist Trevor Paglen, whose The Last Pictures, commissioned by Creative Time, is now in perpetual orbit aboard the satellite EchoStar XVI, will join architect Laura Kurgan at the Columbia University Graduate School of Architecture, Preservation, and Planning. They will discuss Kurgan’s new book, titled Close Up at a Distance: Mapping, Technology, and Politics, which explores data-driven maps and satellite imagery as arguments, interpretations, and propositions. Both Paglen and Kurgan, who is a professor at the School, were presenters at the 2010 Creative Time Summit.
