“Reports from the Field” Packs Joe’s Pub

On December 3, Creative Time presented “Reports from the Field” at Joe’s Pub, with talks by three recipients of 2012–13 Creative Time Global Residency awards. Artists Theaster Gates, Naeem Mohaiemen, and Lisi Raskin returned from abroad to share their stories and insights from Haiti, Bangladesh and the Netherlands, and Afghanistan respectively. We learned about the enormity of issues facing Haiti and the complexity of questions for artists who want to work there; the trails of leftist revolutionaries; and hidden narratives within Afghanistan from the artists’ perspectives.
