The Häagen-Dazs 2002 Holiday Light Shows in New York City's historic Grand Central Terminal features six new video works by emerging artists and captures the magical spirit of the holiday season. Visual, graphic, and Net artists will have the rare opportunity to not only work in a magnificent urban landmark but also to showcase cutting edge technology. Provided by Scharff Weisberg, the Catalyst System will cast the artworks onto the teal vaulted Sky Ceiling of Grand Central Terminal's main concourse with dynamism never before achievable in video projection technology. From custodians sweeping stardust off constellations, a curious boy following birds in their winter migration, and snow flurries on Grand Central to celestial animations, dancing gifts, and a giant oculus of blue sky through which doves escape, the Holiday Light Shows will dazzle commuters and passersby this holiday season with festive, nostalgic, and wondrous creative visions.

The Häagen-Dazs Holiday Light Shows marks the beginning of a new collaboration between Häagen-Dazs and Creative Time to commission and present adventurous art in the public realm, continuing Creative Time's 30 year mission of enlivening such great and unlikely New York City public spaces as Times Square, the Brooklyn Bridge, and the skies over Manhattan with art of all disciplines.

The Häagen-Dazs Holiday Lights Shows in Grand Central Terminal was commissioned for the Häagen-Dazs arts initiative "The Art of Pure Pleasure". Produced with the MTA, Curated by Creative Time and Technology was provided by Scharff Weisberg.
