About the Project
Skin, a collaboration between composer Pauline Oliveros and choreographer Paula Josa-Jones, was an innovative performance integrating text, visual design, music, and dance. The set consisted of three twenty-foot long suspended paper trees equipped with microphones, which amplified the sounds of the performers’ movements.
Oliveros executed the piece’s score at the very edge of the stage, using common, as well as unusual household items, such as an accordion and her own voice. Over eight hundred people attended the event, which was free and open to the public.
