Antonia Wright is a Cuban-American artist born in Miami, Florida. Wright received her MFA in Poetry from The New School in New York City in 2005 as well as at the International Center of Photography for Photo and Video in 2008. She has exhibited in the U.S. and abroad and has participated in artist’s residencies both nationally and internationally. Her work revolves around three main preoccupations – gender politics, bodily endurance and extreme emotion/action in the public sphere. Her performative approach explores empathy in contemporary life through a multifarious, process-oriented practice combining video, performance, photography, poetry, sound, and sculpture.
