Creative Time
Rashid Johnson’s Red Stage is welcome to all audiences who embrace our community guidelines and safety protocols. This space welcome participants that: – Acknowledge that we are gathering on Lenape land, Manahatta, and recognize the histories that have taken place at this site since time immemorial by the original inhabitants of Lenapehoking – Center the community of and around Astor Place, its neighbors, and the multiple histories that have taken place for many different communities at this site – Make space for people’s natural use of the plaza – Embrace collaboration – Share an openness to experimentation and risk-taking – Lift up accessibility in all its forms – Amplify anti-racist, anti-sexist, and anti-ableist practices – Nurture respect, generosity, and trust as an active practice – Share a sensitivity to the health of ourselves and each other as we gather with care amidst an ongoing global pandemic – Prioritize physical and emotional safety, as well as radical inclusion so that we can gather in care This space will not tolerate: – Racist, homophobic, transphobic, ableist, sexist, other discriminatory language or hate speech – Violence – Sexual harassment – White supremacist speech or actions – Interrupting a planned performance – Noncooperation with our staff and team’s requests Please note: – Amplification of any kind is prohibited during drop-in hours – Please respect the artwork – If you are sick or have been exposed to someone who has COVID-19, stay home! You will be asked to leave if you refuse to work with our team to keep everyone safe!
