The 2025-26 Leonhardt Cassullo Video Fellowship
We are currently seeking a creative and collaborative filmmaker to help tell artists’ stories as Creative Time’s Leonhardt Cassullo Video Fellow.
The Video Fellow is central to Creative Time’s communication and programming efforts, helping us document our nearly 50-year history, growing our audience and teasing out compelling narratives that connect these audiences with complex, technical, and radical art practices. The fellowship is a 12-month part-time position. Applicants should be based in New York City or the immediate area as the Video Fellow is expected to be readily available for shoots within the city, and to cover programs and events as scheduled.
Reporting to the Deputy Director, the Video Fellow will work collaboratively across the CT team, project curators, and artists. The Fellow will visually document various aspects of our projects and produce innovative content, including short-form promotional and documentary videos. The Fellow will be part of the creative process, working with project curators, artists, and the full CT team to determine the best opportunities for moving image and video content for each project.
The ideal candidate will possess a strong voice in videography, skill in editing, a clear perspective on the arts and its role in political discourse, and motivation both for working with public artworks and within the communities that the organization’s projects engage and impact. The ideal Fellow will bring to the organization a creative vision, a knack for narrative, knowledge of and interest in the visual arts practices, prior experience in film production and post production, and desire to experience working with artists and teams in a creative, innovative environment.
The Video Fellow will work to document and tell the larger story of the 2025 Sonic Commons program at CTHQ and the 2025 R+D Fellowship.
About CTHQ
CTHQ is a gathering space supporting artists working at the intersection of art and politics as they continue to plot, orchestrate, and recharge from cultural, political, and social organizing work. Rooted in a legacy of art and activism in the Lower East Side, CTHQ sits within Creative Time’s historic and ongoing work to gather artists to share tactics for political change most notably through the Think Tank, Summit, and Reports. CTHQ serves as a hub for today and tomorrow’s community of socially engaged and politically oriented artists in the neighborhood, citywide, across the country, and around the world.
In 2025, gatherings at CTHQ are organized around the Sonic Commons: the texture of sounds (and silences) that form the urban landscape. In the context of increasing political turmoil, unpredictability, and authoritarianism, we explore how the politics of sound can be explored as metaphors and tools to help us listen, decipher, decode, and move past this tumultuous moment.
About R+D Fellowship
The R&D (Research and Develop) Fellowship, supported by The Rockefeller Foundation’s Artist Impact Initiative, recognizes New York City-based artists who have demonstrated excellence in socially engaged art. The R&D Fellowship highlights artists who push the boundaries of public art, challenging social norms and exploring political action through innovative methods. Creative Time partners with artists to facilitate interdisciplinary research and collaborations, nurturing projects that address critical social issues and community needs.
The second iteration of the 2025 R&D Fellowship addresses the climate crisis, multifaceted and intersectional issues that span climate mitigation and adaptation technologies, migration, displacement, food systems, water access, fossil fuels, and environmental justice, among other areas of inquiry.
