The Dreamland Artist Clubhouse - a combination social club, salon, and functioning sign shop – will serve as a nexus for the artists and the community of Coney Island. The front of the shop will be a showroom and meeting space, with signs covering the walls floor to ceiling. The back will be a sign shop where the artists create their own works and are available for sign commissions. By maintaining a presence for the season, we hope to fully permeate the neighborhood. Also by operating a functioning workspace, we can de-myth the process of making art, returning it to a blue-collar craft that will be right at home on Surf Avenue. - Steve Powers
