VOLUNTEER

Summer is fast approaching and so is our project Red Stage by Rashid Johnson.

Now, more than ever, public art provides us a means to gather in care, and we are pleased to have an opportunity to call for volunteers to join us on Astor Place this June 5–July 4. Red Stage is a new work of monumental scale that functions as a literal and metaphorical platform for artists, makers, and passersby to reclaim space through performance and experimentation. You can read more about the project here.

VOLUNTEER RESPONSIBILITIES AND OPPORTUNITIES
Site duties will include assisting our site team with stage management, assisting artists, helping reset materials on and offstage, fielding questions from the public, greeting attendees, and more. Volunteers get an insider’s view of a major public art installation at an iconic location in New York City, behind-the-scenes access to producing and organizing, an opportunity to gather in care, and be a part of a project that aims to thoughtfully think through what it means to reemerge into the city at this moment.

COVID-19 AND ACCESS NOTES
Safety is our utmost concern and we will follow best practices for preventing the spread of COVID-19. PPE and sanitation will be available on site for volunteers and audiences, and a mandatory health questionnaire will be required before every shift. You can read more about how we are handling COVID-19 on our website here.

Please note this project is outdoors and exposed to all kinds of weather. Volunteers will be asked to stand for long periods of time, and may be asked to lift light stage objects. If this poses any challenges, please let us know and we are happy to adjust duties accordingly.
